Hi, we're Kynda.

{kin•duh}

Kynda, pronounced kin•duh, is an Old Norse word meaning "to light or tend a fire."

That’s what we do alongside each of our partners: we ignite their passion, their resources, and their vision to change minds, to move markets, and to make things better.

But if you pronounced our name “kinda,” you’re not really wrong.

Our team is kinda like having an in-house team of experts. Our team is kinda like family that loves you even when you’re difficult. And our team is kinda like the ace up your sleeve—the partner that makes you look good and sound good while sharing the good you’re doing in your community and the world.

Actually, we are all those things.

Make Things Better Fund

The Make Things Better Fund is our financial commitment to people and organizations who are actively, passionately, and consistently using their roles to drive change in the areas of education, creativity, equity, inclusion, and environmental stewardship.

Kynda gave $20,000 in 2020 to organizations establishing policies and practices that remove causes of inequity and promote justice. A list of those who received support can be found here.

Event planning & design, styling, placemaking project manager

Molly Boonstra grew up in the greater Chicagoland area and now resides in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her unique experiences as an installation artist & designer inspire her to create and manage unique events. She strives to develop innovative three-dimensional experiences to capture the attention of the viewer and portray her client’s inspiration and messaging.

When she isn’t experimenting with new art materials, she enjoys spending time with her husband Bob, nameless cat, and boxer Vito. She is an obsessive podcast listener, compulsive snacker, and odd-stuff collector.

Hope locates itself in the premises that we don’t know what will happen and that in the spaciousness of uncertainty is room to act.

Our life is composed greatly from dreams, from the unconscious, and they must be brought into connection with action. They must be woven together.

Calvin University, B.A. Business/Communications
Northwestern University, M.S. Communications

Marketing & communication strategy, writing & editing

Gwen is the founder and president of Kynda, focusing her efforts on marketing and communications strategy. After hours, if she’s not running after her three-year-old, Gwen can usually be found immersed in books or podcasts that are real, honest, and concerned with the human heart (or crazy, passionate, and laugh-out-loud funny).

She spends a significant amount of time in and around Lake Michigan with her extended family, but also travels frequently as a “conscious citizen of this terrible and beautiful world.” Gwen is passionate about several organizations within her community and regularly works to encourage, support, and mentor young women entrepreneurs interested in pursuing careers in business.

She has served on the board of the American Red Cross, volunteers weekly with the Children’s Healing Center in Grand Rapids, and is also a member of the University of Michigan’s Center for Positive Organizations, regularly meeting with other area business owners to strengthen leadership skills and share best practices concerning how business can—and should—be used for good.
